2018 Success at the Devon Farm Business Awards for Jacqui!
‘I entered the ‘Best Woman in Farming’ category because I feel there are lots of women like me in farming who look after the compliance and business aspects of a farm. I think they are often unsung heroes of farming and I wanted to highlight this kind of work. I was so excited to win that category but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would go onto become overall ‘Farmer of the Year’ – simply because I am not a traditional hands-on farmer.
I was stunned but honoured and delighted especially to be the first woman crowned as ‘Farmer of the Year’ since the awards were launched 5 years ago.’

2014 Industry awards
The Devon Farm Business Awards were held in May 2014, on the eve of the Devon Country Show. They seek to identify the best in Devon, to highlight the skill and dedication of those involved across the farming industry and to inspire others to excel. We are proud to announce we were voted Devon’s Best Commercial Farmer.
In 2013 we won the Health & Welfare category at the Pig & Poultry Marketing Awards. In addition to this we were Highly Commended Poultry Producer of the Year at the same awards ceremony.
The judges commented:
“Several factors made Devonshire Poultry stand out. Commitment to training, investment in exceeding standards of welfare and their willingness to show people around, with visitors coming from Australia and Africa to see how they grow the slower growing broilers and the benefits they bring. Their background was not a family poultry farm, and investment in high welfare could have been a risk, but it has paid off in this outstanding business.”
